PS4 (playstation 4) How to get into Safe Mode Restore Factory Format Reset

The Sony PS4 playstation 4 has a safe mode that starts the system with only essential services. This safe mode feature is typically used when you are having problems with your device. Additionally, these directions can be used if you want to factory reset the device and delete all user data and settings.

Safe Mode on the PS4 is meant to be used when you cannot access the XMB or if you are having other serious issues.  I consider it a last resort when troubleshooting; hopefully, you will never have to use it.

Booting via Safe Mode on the PS4 playstation 4

1. Power off the PS4 playstation 4 by holding down the power button for several seconds.  You will hear a beep and see the power light turn red.

2. Power on the PS4 by holding the power button down and keeping it held down.  You will hear an initial beep when you press the power button. Wait about 7 seconds until you hear a second beep.

3. Once you hear the second beep, release the power button and the playstation 4 Safe Mode screens should appear.  You will need to connect your DualShock 4 controller via a USB cable to the PS4 since Bluetooth is not active when in Safe Mode.

You will have the following (playstation 4) options in safe mode:

• Restart System – Exits Safe Mode and restarts the PlayStation 4 Ps4 back into the XMB.
• Change Resolution – Changes the screen resolution to 480p when the PlayStation 4 ps4  is restarted.
• Update System Software – Allows the ps4 PlayStation 4 to update the system software via Internet, USB Drive, or Disc.
• Restore Default Settings – Restores the PlayStation 4 to the default factory settings.
• Rebuild Database – Scans the drive and creates a new database of all content.
  This operation may take a long time depending on the type and number of data items.
• Initialize PS4 (playstation 4) – All data and settings will be lost by performing this step. This deletes all user data and restores the PS4 to as if it just came out of the box. This option is the same as the [Initialize PS4] option in the Settings menu. System software or firmware is not deleted from this option. Essentially, this will erase all your personal data and restore to a factory reset.
• Initialize PS4 (playstation 4) (Reinstall System Software) – This deletes all information on the HDD including the System Software. A message that states a USB storage device containing the System Software must be connected is displayed. Then you can confirm the selection. This too is a factory reset mechanism, but it requires reinstalling the system software as well.

I managed to get black-screen-games to work on Cobra (and non-Cobra) using bd-mirror option (discless from app_home and with disc in the tray from the bd icon).

Here’s whats included in the MultiMan 4.66.02 update:

I tested “BLUS31059-[MiddleEarth Shadow of Mordor]” and it works properly in mmCM mode, in mM mode, with disc and discless, but only from external USB HDD. If someone could test other problematic games – let me know.

The updated explore_plugin.sprx (IEXP0_460.BIN in USRDIR/sys) adds proper discless support (for launching games from /app_home) to multiMAN for CFWs 4.60, 4.65 and 4.66.

Some may not like the approach and compare it to other managers, but the big (and very important) advantage of mM is the absence of any resident processes to handle IO operations, just 200 bytes of memory patched for mM’s payload and no interference with lv1 and kernel processes. All these add to more stability, less game glitches and better experience. I removed all ‘new’ patches that were suggested by other developers and stick only to the standard ones from previous mM versions. Hopefully everything will work properly in the end.

– RAP activation for PS2 Launcher

– PS2 Launcher or PS2 Classic Place holder [they both do the same function]

1.Install placeholder and activate the rap file for classic via reactPSN
2. Go to multiman normal mode and click on iso
3. Convert ISO to Classic [ISO.BIN.ENC]
4. Use mm filemanager [mmOS] , look for this path “/dev_hdd0/PS2ISO//”
5. Copy or Move ISO.BIN.ENC to “/dev_hdd0/game/PS2U1000/USRDIR/”
6. With webMAN “MOD”, Toggle press SELECT+L2+/\
7. Run the game from npdrm legit/placeholder(depending on the option you chose) and maintain one stable sync, this is important to write proper sync data in registry.
8. You can safely close the game, and start mounting PS2 ISO via webMAN

(*Back up registry via TOOLBOX is recommended in case of potential sync issue problem occurs, if the sync issue happens in the future, you can restore your sync data via registry restoration)
